The Mountaintop

During my Foundation Diploma in Design for Theatre Screen and Performance at UAL, Camberwell, one of my favourite projects was The Mountaintop. This involved a Set Design for the stage play of the same name, which tells the story of the night of Martin Luther King's assassination.
The emotive nature of the piece informed my approach and the red, triangular signage of the Lorraine Motel (where the play is set) inspired my use of this oversized symbol in the background. I also felt this aligned with the name, the mountaintop, and the red colour symbolised the key themes of love and murder.
